The table of contents

The TOC for SLM #4 will be posted this weekend, together with a tentative TOC for Fantastic Horror #8. The SLM editor (that blackguard!) has had to strive more than last issue to get the matter together and in shape on time, but will be finishing up shortly.

17 Days until the SLM/FH joint issues

With 17 days until the publication of the SLM/Fantastic Horror joint October issues, yours truly is hard at work editing material. I should probably be posting a finalized table of contents over the next week and truly hope that readers find something to enjoy when the issue appears. Of course, I'll also post the TOC for Fantastic Horror as soon as I have it in hand.

As of now, I expect to have:

A memoir
A history of the Waverly Hills Sanatorium
2 satires
Several poems
2 horror stories
2 reviews
An essay

Sell your book on Amazon without POD

Here's an article for the curious on how to sell a book (or CD) on Amazon without going through an intermediary such as Booksurge, Lulu or iUniverse: http://www.kk.org/cooltools/archives/000668.php

I've actually heard some good things about the POD publishers and have brought an iUniverse book myself (had it special ordered from a brick-and-mortar bookstore). But some thing you can only do yourself.

Gratuitous Tottel

Tottel's Miscellany, featuring the poetry of Thomas Wyatt and Henry Howard, Surrey:

They flee from me, that sometime did me seek,
With naked foot stalking within my chamber:
Once have I seen them gentle, tame, and meek,
That now are wild, and do not once remember,
That sometime they have put themselves in danger
To take bread at my hand ; and now they range
Busily seeking in continual change.
--Thomas Wyatt

When youth had led me half the race
That Cupid's scourge had made me run;
I looked back to meet the place
From whence my weary course begun.
And then I saw how my desire
By guiding ill had led the way:
Mine eyes, too greedy of their hire,
Had made me lose a better prey.
--Henry Howard
