Fantastic Horror

While we're approaching the release of the first issue of the Southern Literary Messenger, I may as well mention that Fantastic Horror will be publishing its 5th issue at the same time. Visit both--it may make interesting dual reading: http://www.fantastichorror.com/

Steady improvements to the site & 26 days to go

I've made a few improvements to the site.

I had already made templates for issues in linked html and pdf. I have now updated the article template with a link to a print-ready copy of the article. And the print-ready article template automatically prompts the reader's printer and has a convenient 'close window' link.

Beyond these, there are still some tweaks to be made. But the basic site is roughed in and ready to go.

There are 26 days left until publication of the first issue, and I hope the visitors to this blog will be here April 1st when the first issue is expected.

Update on contents of first issue

The debut of the Southern Literary Messenger is now only a month away, and we are slowly rounding the contents of the first issue. The editor himself will provide an article on Bible manuscripts and English translations, reviews of "The Dionaea House" and Life at the Bottom, numerous other short reviews—and the first installment of a regular department called "Gleanings" which will scour magazines and internet alike for items of interest.

We also expect reviews of Lucifer's Court and The World Without Us, plus articles on American presidents, hunting, the outdoors, independent movie-making and the original Southern Literary Messenger.

Besides, there are one or two other surprises that we hope to have ready in time for the issue, but we will announce those as they are completed.

As for our contributors, we will announce them as we have mss. in hand. Suffice to say for now that we believe we have an excellent roster.

Of course, we are always accepting submissions and there is still plenty time to send us your work in time for inclusion in the first issue.
